Gracanica residents: It is no trouble for us, we are happy to go and vote and fulfill our duty
Several buses departed from Gracanica this morning for Kursumlija, where residents of the Kosovo Administrative District are voting, with local residents telling Kosovo Online that they did not mind having to travel to cast their ballots because, as they said, they felt a sense of obligation toward their country.
In addition to Gracanica, buses are departing from other locations in central Kosovo at different times throughout the day in order to avoid congestion at the crossings.
Gracanica residents say that despite having to travel considerable distances and facing heavy congestion at the crossings, they do not mind making the journey to vote.
“If our country takes care of us and fulfills all its obligations toward us, then surely we can do something for our country as well. It is no trouble for us at all; we are happy to go and vote,” Srecko Todorovic said.
“Unfortunately, we have not been given the opportunity to vote here where I live. We have to travel elsewhere, but we will fulfill our duty. I hope the party I am going to vote for receives the most votes and that things turn out well for everyone,” Sonja Tasic from Gracanica said.
“It is no trouble for us; it is an obligation. It is our duty,” one resident said.
An increased presence of British KFOR troops was visible in Gracanica. However, they declined to explain why the NATO mission had stepped up its presence today.
For today’s elections, seven polling stations have been opened in Raca, near Kursumlija, for voters from the municipality of Pristina, three each for voters from Lipljan and Strpce, two for voters from the municipality of Kosovo Polje, and one each for voters from the municipalities of Obilic, Podujevo and Urosevac.
Polling stations will remain open until 8 p.m.
