Pulja: Unexpected vote manipulation; Such large-scale theft has not been seen for years

Laura Pula, National Elections Coordinator of the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office, said that the vote manipulation that occurred during the elections held on 28 December was unexpected, stressing that nothing similar has happened since the 2010 elections.

“Everyone in the public is aware that such large-scale theft—mass falsification of votes—has truly not occurred for years,” Pula told Klan Kosova.

She added that the competent institutions had taken measures following the incidents in 2010.

“I say that this did not happen because I have been monitoring the process since 2013, as I am the national elections coordinator at the national level. As a response to the consequences of 2010, when the elections were quite problematic at the time, we—the prosecutorial system—took the initiative to conclude a memorandum of cooperation with all relevant institutions, starting with the Central Election Commission, the Kosovo Police, the Judicial Council of Kosovo, and ourselves as the prosecutorial system, under a single motto: protecting the citizens’ vote,” Pula said.

The coordinator emphasized that this approach had produced indisputable results.

“Manipulation of citizens’ votes (in the 28 December elections) for deputies of the Republic of Kosovo, for the Assembly, was truly unexpected for us,” she concluded.
