Petkovic: Pristina rendered Cadastre Agreement meaningless in bid to legalize seizure of Serbian property
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic reacted to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s statement that “Serbia has not handed over cadastral documentation despite the 2011 agreement,” saying that Belgrade was not responsible for the failure to implement the agreement, but rather Pristina, which, he claimed, had rendered it meaningless in an attempt to legalize the seizure of Serbian property.
“Today, Kurti once again attacked Belgrade, demanding implementation of the 2011 Cadastre Agreement, which was negotiated at the time by Borko Stefanovic, a protégé of the blockaders. It is interesting that Kurti insists on Borko’s agreement while continuously rejecting the agreement on the CSM, which Aleksandar Vucic fought to secure,” Petkovic wrote on the social media platform X.
He said it was clear that Kurti accepted only what was detrimental to Serbs and that this was why he had been “running away from the CSM” for 13 years.
“Belgrade is not responsible for the failure to implement the Cadastre Agreement, but Pristina, which has completely rendered the entire agreement meaningless with the aim of legalizing the seizure of Serbian property. We will not allow that, regardless of how much damage Borko’s agreement has caused us. And it is clear how much additional damage both he and his student blockaders, whom Kurti supported, would cause us if they were to come to power. We will not allow that,” Petkovic said.
Earlier today, speaking about the results achieved in property registration, including in northern Kosovo, Kurti said that a particular problem was posed by cadastral documentation that “Serbia has not handed over despite the 2011 agreement.”
“A particular challenge is the fact that more than 15 years have passed and Serbia has not handed over the cadastral documentation to us, even though an interstate agreement was signed on September 2, 2011. So, last month marked 15 years since the European Union donated two million euros, yet they have not handed over even a copy of the cadastral documentation, let alone the original,” Kurti said.
