French member of the European Parliament Nicolas Bay pointed out for Novosti that the offer of Brussels, Berlin and Paris to grant independence to Kosovo in exchange for a vague promise of EU membership is an insult.

Pointing out that the Serbs and the French are linked by historical and friendly relations, Bay, who has been on several occasions in central Serbia, Republic of Srpska, among the Serbs in Kosovo, points out that those trips were an opportunity to meet a proud people, eager to defend their identity and their roots that are fully inscribed in European civilization.

Where does the connection with our people and the interest in the "Kosovo issue" come from?

I wanted to go to Kosovo to warn public opinion and European institutions about the fate of Christians persecuted in Europe on the land of their ancestors. Already in 1999, during the NATO bombing, I defended the position of Serbs in France as a young political activist. Even today in Kosovo, Serbs suffer torture and humiliation every day. This sometimes leads to aggression and murder. The regime of self-proclaimed Kosovar Albanians is exerting increasing pressure to expel the last Christians from Kosovo, forcibly appropriating the historical cradle of the Serbian people.

It was my duty as a member of the European Parliament, a Frenchman and a Christian, to go there and express my support for the Serbs who are resisting.

Western public opinion is very little informed about the history of the Balkans and the current situation?

It is very misinformed. The wars in the former Yugoslavia, and especially the conflict in Kosovo, are shown in a biased and ideological way. It is necessary to reveal what is happening in Kosovo today, to show that Christians are victims of a form of ethnic cleansing, in order to change the distorted perception that the West has about the region.

Is Kosovo the last ghetto of "modern, democratic Europe"?

Kosovo is a "pseudo-mafia state" whose only legacy is the fake monuments erected to the "heroes" of the KLA, as well as gas stations and hotels whose sole purpose is to launder dirty money.

Faced with this sad reality, the jewels of Serbian culture survive, such as the Decani monastery, a place of splendor, tranquility and a centuries-old display of our European civilization. This contrast is as symbolic as it is striking. Christians persecuted by the illegitimate Pristina regime live in enclaves and are under pressure to leave. This is a unique situation in modern Europe and is all the more tragic.

Brussels has chosen its side, which is NATO. Reality is unimportant compared to ideology.

Is there a solution to the "Kosovo issue"?

The offer by Brussels, Berlin and Paris to grant independence to Kosovo in exchange for a vague promise of EU membership is an insult. Kosovo is Serbian and it must remain so because it is the historical cradle of this nation. We have to continue to tell the truth about what is happening in Kosovo, to awaken Western opinion about what Christians are going through there. Media silence that hides the true situation is the only thing that allows Western leaders to continue supporting the Albanians. It is high time that the European Commission, which shares lessons on human rights, respected the territorial integrity of Serbia and the basic principles of international law.

Are you familiar with the idea of creating a "greater Albania"? Is Europe aware of the danger of such an idea? Does Europe have an answer to the story of such a creation, especially if it is taken into account that this idea brings a wave of radical Islam to the Old Continent - Albanians have been working for decades on the ethnic cleansing of the Kosovo Serb Orthodox?

Greater Albania is a project from the 1960s. At that time, Tito had already given the status of great autonomy, but that was not enough for those who wanted the status of an autonomous republic. This led to an escalation into the 1990s, boycotts of institutions, the creation of the KLA and war. This large entity would be the mafia state that it is today, a gateway to arms, drug and radical Islam trade in the heart of Europe. This eventuality hanging over Europe would be a great threat to our civilization. The project of "Greater Albania", dominated by Muslims in the Balkans, represents a direct threat to Europe. In a rather similar way, the project of the great Ottoman Empire carried by Turkey and Azerbaijan with the desire to annex Armenia and eradicate the Armenians, requires a political, diplomatic and if necessary military response of European solidarity with the Armenians.

On Orthodox Christmas Day and Eve, Serbian boys and young men were shot in Kosovo, why is it difficult for the Western powers and the media to say that the victims of Albanian terror in Kosovo are Serbs?

It is obvious that if the Western media and leaders spoke about this drama, the official and false situation in Kosovo would be called into question. All NATO and Western powers' actions since 1999 have been based on this lie.

You also reacted to the recent events in Velika Hoca, when 40,000 liters of wine were confiscated from the Petrovic family. The persecution of Kosovo Serbs continues, what is the ultimate goal?

This aggression and this robbery moved me even more since I met the Petrovic family and I was amazed by their welcome, which was both so simple and so generous in their inn. The goal is obvious: to frighten the last Christians who are resisting and who legitimately want to defend the land of their fathers.

What was Serbia guilty of in 1999, why did NATO send bombs?

The Serbs were to blame for wanting to live among themselves, for wanting to find their nation united, independent and strong. This is what was given to almost all the peoples of Europe, the famous "right of peoples to self-determination". It is a shame that it is forbidden to Serbs.

What are your impressions of the Serbian monasteries that are part of the Serbian medieval cultural heritage in Kosovo?

I had the opportunity to visit many of them. They are a reflection of our great common civilization, the "white cloak of churches" that covers Europe. It is all the more touching that these monasteries have already survived various bombings and attacks so many times, and that they will be even more endangered in the future. Europe should preserve them and officially protect them.
