Hill: I like the "Open Balkans", it enables the people between the countries to get to know each other better

The US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill in an interview for "Nedeljnik" news magazine talked about how he liked the "Open Balkan" initiative because it allows people between the countries to get to know each other better, and added that he believed that never in history had there been so many positive interactions between Albanians from Albania and Serbs from Serbia.
As he stated, it was a process in which businesses could capture a wider market, but also by which claustrophobia was solved.
"I can't stand waiting in lines of cars, and if this process reduces those crowds, then it should be supported," Hill said, as reported by Tanjug.
He pointed out that it was an excellent initiative and that it was great to see the Prime Minister of Albania and the President of Serbia discussing solving essential problems for the citizens.
The American ambassador added that there was a lot of history in these areas and that it was important to respect it, but that one should not be its prisoner.
"I believe that everything will be resolved so that someone will get something, and someone will get something else," he pointed out, noting that he was not interested in taking sides and that although his country had a different attitude towards Kosovo compared to the official Belgrade, it did not prevent it from cooperating with the governments in Belgrade and Pristina. He emphasized that it was not in anyone's interest to continue living with tensions.
