Analysts: New recognitions absence a consequence of Kosovo's bad foreign policy
According to analysts in Pristina, the absence of new Kosovo recognitions is related to shortcomings in foreign policy and the dialogue process, Ekonomia online reports.
According to Arbnor Sadiku, the main reason for this is the fact that Serbia does not recognize Kosovo, as well as the lack of coordination in foreign policy.
"There are two reasons why Serbia has not recognized Kosovo yet. On the one hand, the lack of foreign policy coordination by Minister Donika Gervalla. I believe that after the agreement is reached, there will be automatic recognition by the five EU countries that have not yet recognized Kosovo and by some other countries that are collaborators of liberal democracies," Sadiku said.
Sadiku believes that government cabinet reform is necessary, but he does not rule out the possibility of government change.
"We had many shortcomings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' work, primarily in the representation of Kosovo in the world. After recent events, chances are high that we will have new elections, and there will be no time left to reform this government. At the same time, we can have as an additional option a government that can be called National Unity or a technical government that can be represented by all political parties and then have a consensus for the CSM creation," he said.
Analyst Mazllum Baraliu agrees that the shortcomings in conducting foreign policy and Serbia's lobbying against the Kosovo recognition are connected to the fact that there are no new recognitions.
"Some mistakes in foreign policy were made by previous governments too, and they caused Serbia to bring back the dialogue issue, which started as a technicality and has been going on for 12 years. Serbia lobbied by giving millions and showing others that they should not recognize Kosovo," Baraliu said.
Baraliu adds that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the poor conduct of diplomacy bear a great responsibility.
"Of course, the mistakes of our diplomacy, which through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other institutions, was unworthy of creating a diplomatic school and developing diplomacy. These are our mistakes not only in the field of diplomacy but in other fields as well, therefore we have these consequences regarding Serbia and the international community," Baraliu said.
