Political analyst Ben Andoni said that Albania will support any American decision on Greenland, including the potential endangering of Denmark’s territorial integrity.

“I believe that Albania’s position is almost completely clear. It voted unanimously for the document authorizing Edi Rama to represent Albania in the Peace Committee. There is no doubt that Albania will support any Trump idea for the future of Greenland. The problem is that, up to this point, there is no defined document regarding the future of Greenland. But in any case, from the discussions in the Albanian parliament, from Rama’s speech, and from the clashes with the opposition, it has been understood that Albania is not only proud to be a participant in this Committee, but also considers everything that comes from Washington to be worthwhile,” Andoni told Kosovo Online.

According to him, Albania will support US plans even if they include endangering Denmark’s territorial integrity.

“I think that Albania will, without hesitation, support everything that Washington proclaims, even if in the future Denmark’s territorial integrity is endangered, which would mean that the US would have some form of sovereignty over Greenland. However, from what we have heard so far, it seems that Trump is testing the limits of opposition from his NATO allies,” Andoni assessed.

He added that Tirana needed the invitation to participate in Trump’s initiative because in this way it balances its relations with the US and the EU.

“As far as official Tirana is concerned, it needs this invitation because Albania, through the US, has created a balance between specific American weight and the chaotic stance of the EU. We have seen such a chaotic stance of the EU in its approach to dialogue and in the constant changes of modalities in the country’s integration process. Standing on Trump’s side makes Albania feel calmer, at least on security issues, but it also aims to rely on the political and military support of the United States in order to extract the maximum on the path toward European integration,” Andoni explains.

However, he believes that in the future Tirana’s very pro-American policy will be balanced in relation to the positions of France, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the United Kingdom, which is America’s main ally.

“Albania must ‘swim’ very carefully in its policy in favor of American interests, while keeping one foot on the side of NATO allies that are also EU member states,” Andoni advises.

Speaking about Kosovo, he says that it is obliged to support any move by Washington, because Kosovo’s existence is linked to American security interests.

“Kosovo is obliged to support every position dictated by Washington, which was seen in the great enthusiasm of Vjosa Osmani when she met with Trump before the signing of the document establishing the Peace Committee. The reason is that Kosovo’s existence and the process of its state formation are completely linked to American security interests. The issue of security and existence is the primary issue for Kosovo. That comes before major economic problems and before institutional problems. The goal is for Kosovo to remain an area that belongs to American interests, and the enthusiasm with which the American invitation was received shows that Pristina will maintain every position dictated by the US,” Andoni said.

He notes that no country in the region has so far fully defined its position, and that Serbia’s stance is cautious, given the clarity of its position on territorial integrity.

“The only one that can be clear is Serbia, because of what it considers a violation of its sovereignty in the case of Kosovo. I believe that Serbia will be very cautious in its approach to the Peace Committee, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be very chaotic, while Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, and Macedonia, I believe, will be on the side of American interests,” Andoni concluded.
