Acting director of the Museum of Genocide Victims in Belgrade, Bojan Arbutina, marking the 27th anniversary of the start of the NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, says that the feelings of the Serbian people are unified, as this period is remembered as one of fear, despair, and great injustice inflicted upon them, especially on the people in Kosovo and Metohija.
He emphasizes that the bombing of the FRY was an illegal aggression by the NATO alliance against a sovereign state.
After the aggression ended, he notes, the Kumanovo Agreement was signed, from which point, in his view, began all the hardships we still live with today and all the consequences we feel today.
“Ask any member of our people what their memories are, and they are tragic, cautionary memories that must not be forgotten. We have material evidence on every corner. From Belgrade, Nis, Podgorica, you will see destroyed buildings that stand as reminders of what the majority of European countries, members of the NATO alliance, did to one people during the 78 days of NATO aggression against the FRY,” Arbutina states.
