Ambassador of Serbia to the Holy See in the Vatican, Professor Sima Avramovic, reacted to the statement of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, regarding the alleged opening of Kosovo's Special Mission to the Holy See, emphasizing that it was only a Liaison Office.

"On January 12, 2024, Vjosa Osmani made a pompous statement that she had signed a decree opening 'Kosovo's Special Mission to the Holy See.' Anyone can name the office they are opening as they wish, but here it essentially concerns the Liaison Office of so-called Kosovo at the Holy See," Avramovic emphasized for Kosovo Online.

He added that the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia had held discussions with high-ranking Vatican officials on this matter several times last year.

"We were clearly informed that it is the 'Liaison Office' of the so-called Kosovo that will be opened at the Holy See, which also exists in other countries that have not recognized the so-called Kosovo. It should be emphasized that the 'liaison officer' does not have the status of a diplomat nor will enjoy diplomatic immunity and privileges at the Holy See," Avramovic concluded.
