Behrami: EU reactions to Kurti's actions appear to be a coordinated game

PDK MP-elect Artan Behrami said that the European Union's reactions to the recent actions of Albin Kurti's government, including its positions on the return of Serbian judges and prosecutors and the demolition of weekend houses at Lake Gazivode, appear to be a "coordinated game" between Brussels and Pristina, Koha reported.

According to him, the EU, in certain situations, allows Kurti to display nationalist tendencies.

"This is more my personal opinion. What I have noticed is that these EU reactions toward Kurti seem to me like a coordinated game between them. They make a bit of noise... When they see that Kurti is performing poorly in public opinion polls, they allow him to adopt a more nationalist stance, both toward the Serbs and toward Serbia, and afterward there is always some terrible compromise to the detriment of Kosovo. The measures against Kosovo were finally lifted, just before the elections. And in return, Kurti rewarded them with the Citizenship Law, which is a scandalous law," Behrami told Koha.

In his view, whenever Kurti "adopts a nationalist stance" and attacks local Serbs, Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and Milan Radoicic, "you should expect that in the coming days and weeks there will be some terrible compromise to the detriment of Kosovo."

Behrami also said that the European Union should be more concerned about Kurti's efforts to undermine the constitutional order and take control of state institutions.

He also assessed that the EU applies double standards when it comes to the actions of Kurti's government compared with previous governments.
