Berisha: I am not against elections, but I am against holding them in containers
Former MP Zafir Berisha stated that he was not against holding special elections in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, but that he was against holding them in containers, Klan Kosova reports.
He said in the show "Info Magazin" that holding elections in this way would not produce functional institutions.
"I must first say that I am not against holding elections, but against the way they are held in containers. Holding elections in containers is a concession to criminal groups in the north. This means that the elections are being held at the will of parallel structures led by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic," Berisha claims.
According to him, Kurti's government brought the north of Kosovo to this situation with its immature actions.
"Kurti's political immaturity has brought the situation in the north to the point where the consequences will be big and long-term. We have a setback in our relationship with Serbia due to political acrobatics with license plates. Therefore, he took actions that turned the situation around, and of course, Serbia and Vucic were ready for these reckless actions," Berisha adds.
He points out that holding elections does not mean that they will produce functional institutions.
"As long as we don't use schools for the election process, how can we use municipal facilities? The Serbian community that Serbia is pushing, apart from political positions, is also boycotting administrative positions," Berisha said.
