Serbia's Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Demo Berisha, assessed that the unification of Albanian parties in Montenegro represents a danger because it is a step toward achieving what he described as the centuries-old Albanian aspiration to create a "Greater Albania."

Berisha said that the initiative for Montenegro to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo, launched by the president of Montenegro's Democratic People's Party (DNP), Milan Knezevic, is a response to this issue.

“The danger lies in what is happening. The unification of Albanian political forces in Montenegro is actually a path toward creating something that has been a centuries-old aspiration of the Albanians, namely a 'Greater Albania.' What Mr. Knezevic and certain municipalities with a Serbian-majority population in Montenegro have initiated is precisely a response to that issue,” Berisha told Kosovo Online.

The three main Albanian parties in Montenegro – the Democratic Alliance of Albanians, the Albanian Alternative, and the Albanian National Union – merged at the end of May into a new political entity, the Albanian Forum.

As announced at the time, this move formally established the political unity of Albanians in Montenegro with the aim of further strengthening political representation, protecting national interests, preserving and promoting national identity, language, and culture, contributing to the democratic and economic development of society, the rule of law, European integration, and the prosperity of all citizens.
