Bisevac: Grenell’s visit alone would signal that resolving Kosovo’s issues is a priority
Former President of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, Nemanja Bisevac, told Kosovo Online that if Richard Grenell, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions, visits Kosovo as suggested by informal reports from Pristina, the visit itself would send a strong message that resolving issues in Kosovo is among the top priorities of the Trump administration.
Bisevac expects that during his visit, Grenell will hold talks with all political actors, including representatives of the Serb List, who, as he noted, had meetings with him in North Mitrovica a year and a half ago.
"Since Trump took office just over a month ago, many things in the world have changed. Some issues that the international community, led by the U.S., had been unable to resolve in the past five years have now been addressed. Therefore, I expect that we will soon see an improvement in the situation, especially in northern Kosovo and Metohija, followed by a more long-term solution for peace and prosperity in the region," Bisevac stated.
As he points out, considering that Richard Grenell served as the envoy for Belgrade-Pristina negotiations during Trump's previous term and given his statements and media appearances regarding the situation in Kosovo before the parliamentary elections on February 9, he believes that Grenell's visit will have a significant impact on the formation of the new government in Pristina.
