Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, held talks today with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the UNMIK Mission, Caroline Ziadeh, regarding the situation in Kosovo, as stated by the Government of Serbia.

According to the statement, Brnabic emphasized that the tragic events of September 24th in northern Kosovo had tendentiously been exploited and misused by representatives of the Kosovo Government and certain media outlets in Pristina for the purpose of disseminating disinformation and half-truths.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Belgrade had consistently and persistently warned about the brutality, violence, and discrimination to which the Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo had long been subjected, which had led to the escalation and tragic events.

Brnabic also emphasized that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities had not yet been formed, despite Pristina's commitment to it in the Brussels Agreement more than ten years ago, as stated in the press release.

Ziadeh stressed that Serbia's dedication to peace, stability, and dialogue was paramount, remaining the most important means of achieving a sustainable solution in Kosovo.

The Head of the UNMIK Mission emphasized that the Mission remained consistent in implementing its mandate in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, the statement points out.
