Çitaku: Kosovo remains isolated while Serbia deepens cooperation with the United States

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) official Vlora Çitaku criticized Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti over what she described as deteriorating relations with the United States, stating that while Kosovo remains isolated and subject to restrictive measures, Serbia is deepening its cooperation with Washington through the newly established Strategic Dialogue.

In a Facebook post, Çitaku noted that the U.S.–Serbia Strategic Dialogue encompasses key areas shaping the future, including artificial intelligence, energy, space cooperation, and imports of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG), which, she said, Albin Kurti had consistently rejected.

"As if that were not enough, only a few days after the visit of President Donald Trump's Special Adviser to Kosovo, an extremely critical report was published, damaging our country's reputation. These are not coincidences. They are the consequence of a policy that replaced diplomacy with propaganda, partnership with arrogance, and the national interest with a cult of leadership," Çitaku wrote.

She added that Kosovo had once been at the centre of attention among the world's democracies but was now, in her view, "sliding toward the margins of interest among international decision-making centres."

"Kosovo's future must be built on strong alliances, credibility, and coordination with our strategic partners—not on complacency and confrontation. If this style of governance continues, we risk remaining on the margins. The price for that will not be paid by a single government, but by the citizens and the future of our Republic," Çitaku concluded.
