Citizens of North Mitrovica on the petition: We expect the people to choose their representatives
Residents of North Mitrovica convey to Kosovo Online that they hope the petition for the removal of the mayor will succeed, after which they expect elections where citizens will choose their representatives.
Boban Dimitrijevic emphasized that he had fulfilled his civic duty and that he hoped for the best.
"Someone, through a twisted administrative instruction, initiated this whole procedure, which I believe is not in line with the law. We know that mayors in these three municipalities in the north received three to four percent of the votes, and we consider that illegitimate. As every citizen of North Mitrovica on the voter list, I felt that I should come to sign this petition," Dimitrijevic said.
Another resident stated that the entire action was well-organized, and he was satisfied that he had signed the petition.
"I hope there will be a legal replacement of the current mayor, and that there will be fair elections in the future. We want a person who deserves the election by Mitrovica residents, or citizens of northern Kosovo, to become the mayor. Whether it's North Mitrovica, Leposavic, Zubin Potok, or Zvecan, it should be carried out in a fair and honest manner, and citizens should have their true representative," he emphasized.
Dojcin Dancetovic stated that he had positive expectations and hopes, like other citizens, that things would improve after the petition was adopted.
"So far, this is a sick situation, and it's not good at all. Mayors must be ours, of course, those whom the people choose, not those imposed by force," Dancetovic concluded.
