Conference on Serbian-French friendship in the French Senate; Durox: Kosovo is Serbia

A conference titled “France and Serbia – An Unbreakable Friendship” was held in the French Senate in Paris, during which French Senator Aymeric Durox declared in Serbian, “Kosovo is Serbia,” according to a statement by the association “All Serbs in Paris.”

The conference was organized by Senator Durox with the support of the association “All Serbs in Paris” and its president Sasa Pesic, history professor Alexis Troude, and numerous French friends of Serbia.

As noted in the statement, the event gathered high-level representatives from political, religious, academic, and diplomatic circles.

“The conference was opened by the senator, who in his opening remarks uttered the most meaningful Serbian sentence, spoken proudly and resolutely in Serbian: ‘Kosovo is Serbia!’ This message, delivered under the vaults of the Luxembourg Palace – a symbol of French democracy – was met with thunderous applause,” the statement reads.

In his introductory address, Senator Durox emphasized that true Serbian-French friendship transcends past political mistakes and described it as “noble and eternal.”

“He recalled the misstep of the French authorities in 2018 when the President of Serbia was sidelined during the Armistice Day commemorations, calling it a disgrace, but also stressing that it did not diminish the historical bond between the two nations,” the statement adds.

The president of the association “All Serbs in Paris,” Sasa Pesic, highlighted the importance of the Serbian diaspora in French society and its potential to serve as a bridge between the two countries.

He specifically reflected on the work of the association, which is actively involved in integration, preserving identity, and strengthening Serbian-French friendship.

“There is a rare bond between France and Serbia, born in the trenches of war, nurtured in the amphitheaters of knowledge, and matured in the hearts of the people. That bond is not an alliance of convenience but a brotherhood of souls, forged through sacrifice, trust, and mutual respect. These are the friendships that history celebrates, that peoples cherish, and that the future will carry on – because they are not based on interest, but on loyalty and a shared ideal of freedom. The legacy we celebrate is alive and carries hope, breaking down prejudices and barriers in the name of liberty, equality, and fraternity that unite us. Long live France! Long live Serbia! Long live the Republic of Srpska! Long live the immortal friendship between our two peoples! Kosovo is Serbia,” Pesic declared.

Renowned philosopher and professor Daniel Salvatore spoke about his personal connection with the Serbian people.

“I have never taken the side of the Serbs – I have taken the side of the truth, and the truth was on the side of the Serbs,” he said.

On that occasion, Senator Durox awarded the Senate medal to the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to France, Bojana Kondic Panic. The medal was also awarded to the Ambassador of Serbia, Ana Hrustanovic.
