Croatian columnist: Kurti was mistaken if he thought Vucic would recognize Kosovo; he is playing with fire in the north

Croatian columnist Zeljko Trkanjec, commenting on the incursion of Special Forces in the north of Kosovo, said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti had been mistaken if he had thought that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic would recognize Kosovo, Republika reports.

"It's a huge mistake by Kurti. Kosovo is playing with fire too much. It is a wrong assessment that Serbia could recognize them because Vucic is supposedly weak," Trkanjec said.

Trkanjec says that the second, when both the European Union and the US send almost the same statement and say that the Kosovo government is responsible for the incident, it is clear that the situation is not good.

On Friday, May 26, there was a violent action and an intrusion of the Special Forces of the Kosovo Police into the buildings of three municipalities in the north of Kosovo. After citizens' attempts to prevent the police from entering the municipal premises in Zvecan, Zubin Potok, and Leposavic, clashes occurred, in which the police used tear gas, smoke, and shock bombs.

On that occasion, several dozen citizens were injured, and the Kosovo police entered the municipal buildings and ushered in the newly elected Albanian mayors, who won mandates in the recent local elections that were boycotted by the Serbs and in which only slightly more than 3 percent of voters participated.
