Dacic: The international community is not defending Pristina, they are defending themselves

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said today that the international community was both deaf and absent regarding Pristina's moves and that they wanted to show with all their might that they had been right when they had created, as he said, that separatist core. They were not defending Pristina, they were defending themselves and actions from that period, Dacic said, RTS reported.

Dacic says that what is happening in Kosovo is an indicator of what Pristina's leadership is like.

"We have been talking about it for years and I can say that it is a continuity that has been going on for many years. Even personally in different forms, but this is the worst possible form because they still adhere to the slogan that they said publicly in the nineties," Dacic says.

He points out that besides Albin Kurti, the most important factor is the Kosovo Minister for Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla-Schwarz.

"She is a German exponent and from that one political bloc, who said in the 1990s that 'neither America nor Germany nor anyone from the outside will bring us independence, only our weapons'. So they want to achieve their goal through violence at any cost. Their goal is an independent Kosovo, and the obstacle to that is the Serbs who live there; the obstacle to that is the Serbian leadership led by President Vucic and the connection and unity we have with our people from Kosovo and Metohija and the collective resistance of the Serbs to such oppression and terror," Dacic says.

He emphasizes that there was a series of unilateral moves by Pristina that did not cause any reaction.

"Everyone in the world condemned that, and we now expect the international community to show whether it will tolerate it or whether it will say where the limit of such actions is. We are not sure that it will happen because there is a disease called deafness, which means that the international community is both deaf and absent. Those who created that one separatist core, who recognized Kosovo against all rules, who violated the principle of protecting territorial integrity and sovereignty, want to show with all their might that they were right. They are not defending Pristina, they are defending themselves and actions from that period," Dacic says.

"That child they created, they now have to control, because the genie is out of the bottle and it threatens to cause instability and war again,” Dacic warns.

He states that Pristina creates a problem, leads to escalation, and then works on de-escalation.

"The international community says that both sides should make concessions. What more do we need to make concessions? The limit of our tolerance is the safety of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, protection from terror. It is our obligation to do so, but it is also the obligation of the international community because they are there according to the resolution of the UN Security Council. If they do not stop Kurti, Kurti will certainly lead to what he always talked about, which is to solve the problem of the Serbs by expelling the Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija," Dacic says.

When it comes to holding elections in the north of Kosovo, he says that when they talk about new elections, they "fabricate reasons to make it happen, and make it seem like it's a part of the normal political process."

"Radical decisions must be made here, and that is to undo everything that has been done. We must see what is happening with the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. And here we come to the essence, we are now talking about something that is completely beyond any logic, because it is the hundredth in the line of priorities that we have set and that they have guaranteed us," Dacic explains.

Dacic states that the UN General Assembly will start soon and that the President of Serbia will be at the head of the delegation.

"The President has intensively conducted discussions on this topic all these weeks and months. Unfortunately, decisions cannot be made at the Security Council session, because those decisions require consensus, but the seriousness of the situation can be stated. At each of those sessions, the main conclusion of the great powers is that the situation is excellent and that KFOR should withdraw, that is what Pristina is asking for first of all. When you have such blindness, then the question is what can be expected in the discussion itself," Dacic adds.

He also states that the regular session of the UN Security Council on Kosovo should be held in October.

"The President also held consultations with countries that are our friends in the UN Security Council," Dacic points out.

Speaking about the announcements of extraordinary parliamentary elections in Serbia, he says that it is a national and state priority.

"It is now certainly a national and state priority because when you talk about Aleksandar Vucic, you are not only talking about a man who for years was and is now the most important person, regardless of the fact that he is not formally the President, of the largest and ruling party in Serbia - Serbian Progressive Party, you are talking about to the President of Serbia, who must take care of state and national interests and take care of the time ahead," Dacic said.

He also states that important events are coming up - the continuation of the dialogue in Brussels next week, followed by the session of the UN General Assembly.

"There will certainly be more than a hundred bilateral meetings with various statesmen from all over the world," Dacic points out.

He also says that he does not know what new things can be heard when it comes to elections.

"I'm more in favor of regular elections, but President Vucic has said a hundred times so far that whenever you want elections, it's not a problem," Dacic said.

When asked when there was such a situation in the Assembly, whether elections were the only solution, Dacic said that elections were mostly sought by parties that had some chance of winning the elections.

"Elections are generally sought by parties that have some chance of winning the elections. I have nothing against meeting those who will surely lose in those elections. Whenever there are elections, I don't know when they will be and I don't know if they will be in the next few months or in the first few months of next year when regular elections usually are, there is no magic trick and there really is no dilemma," Dacic said.

He indicates that the parliament is a demonstrative place and that in all countries in the world, it is the place where you present yourself to people.

"What is happening in the parliament now? There is an obstruction of the work of the parliament and an uncivilized behavior. Such behavior not only is not good for Serbia, but it is indicators of what the highest reaches are," Dacic points out.

Whether the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia would participate in the elections together or separately would be decided in the coming period, Dacic concluded.
