The deadline set by the US and EU for Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti expires today, and Washington's special representative for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, stated that if Kurti does not accept the three conditions for calming the situation in northern Kosovo, it means he does not want cooperation with the EU and the US and that it cannot pass without consequences.

The ultimatum was given to him during a meeting on Monday evening by the US special representative for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, and the EU special representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

During the meeting, Kurti was asked for the following: de-escalation on the ground, holding elections in the north as soon as possible, and a return to the dialogue and the normalization process.

The meeting took place on Monday, but the deadline was announced on Tuesday afternoon during a meeting held by US Special Representative Gabriel Escobar with media representatives.
