Dedaj: Situation chaotic, Kurti is Kosovo's Kim Jong Un

Former Kosovo Ambassador to North Macedonia Gjergj Dedaj assessed that the political situation in Kosovo is chaotic, frightening, and dangerous, and accused Kosovo's caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti of “killing democracy, institutions, and the state.” He called on opposition parties, civil society, the media, and citizens to use all political and democratic means to oppose the current situation.

Dedaj said that Kosovo is “de facto and de jure without state institutions” and expressed pessimism about overcoming the political deadlock.

“The current political situation in Kosovo is chaotic, frightening, and dangerous. Kosovo is de facto and de jure without state institutions, without a Parliament, without a Government, without a president, and without hope of overcoming the blockade and chaos caused by Albin Kurti,” Dedaj told Front Online.

He compared Kurti to the leader of North Korea, calling him “Kosovo's Kim Jong Un.”

“Either MP Kurti has a mission, or he is trapped and being blackmailed, because a normal politician, with 47 percent of the vote, does not degrade and kill democracy, institutions, and the state, as Kosovo's Kim Jong Un, Albin Kurti, is doing,” Dedaj said.

The former ambassador also said that the failure to constitute the Parliament and form a new Government demonstrates Kurti's arrogance.

He assessed that Kurti is “playing cat and mouse” with the voters of Self-Determination and Kosovo, with opposition parties, with the Constitution, and with parliamentary regulations.

According to him, Kurti's goal is to subjugate, degrade, and ultimately divide the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), with which he had negotiated to form the institutions.

He called former Kosovo President and LDK candidate at the most recent elections Vjosa Osmani the “mother of divisions” in Kosovo's politics.

“Kurti does not give the position of president to anyone, he is not in favor of sharing absolute power, dangling the LDK with the bait of an alleged coalition government, while only trying to subjugate, degrade, and ultimately divide it, through Vjosa Osmani, as the 'mother of divisions' in Kosovo's politics,” Dedaj said.

He pointed out that Kurti has endangered Kosovo's historic partnership with the US, EU, and NATO, and that he has “stifled democracy and demonized the Republic of Kosovo.”

He therefore called on opposition parties, civil society, the media, and the citizens of Kosovo to use all political and democratic means to oppose the current situation.

“Opposition parties, civil society, the media, and the citizens of Kosovo must use all political and democratic means, including nationwide protests, to prevent this politically dubious man from continuing to decide the future and fate of Kosovo,” Dedaj said.
