Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Enver Hoxhaj said that the failure to constitute the Assembly within the prescribed deadline represents an undermining of the constitutional order and that, as of today, Kosovo is in a state of anarchy.

Late last night, when it became clear that the constituent session would not resume before midnight, Hoxhaj wrote that yesterday, 7 August, was the final day for constituting the new parliamentary assembly, but that MPs were unable to enter the Assembly chamber because the doors were locked.

“The constitutional order has been undermined. Kosovo is no longer a democracy, and as of Saturday we are in anarchy,” Hoxhaj wrote on Facebook.

The constituent session of the Kosovo Assembly has continued today at 11 a.m., even though the constitutional deadline for constituting the parliament expired at midnight.

Opposition MPs called yesterday for the session to continue before midnight, but without success.
