Djuric arranged twinning of California's wine region Livermore with one of Serbia's wine regions
Serbia's Ambassador to the United States, Marko Djuric, visited the state of California in a working visit where, in talks with the Chief of Alameda County, David Haubert, he discussed the ongoing fair "Wine Vision by Open Balkan." In this context, an agreement was reached to twin the renowned California wine region, Livermore, with one of Serbia's wine regions.
Djuric stated that Belgrade hosted, for the second time, the international wine, food, and tourism fair "Wine Vision by Open Balkan," which drew over 600 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries this year.
The visit by Ambassador Djuric to California aimed to further promote and expand cooperation between Serbia and the United States in the fields of economy, information and communication services, and technology, as stated by the Serbian Embassy in the US.
Djuric visited the headquarters of the companies "Tesla" and "Rivian," whose leadership expressed particular satisfaction with their current cooperation and business in Serbia. They emphasized the quality and educational profiles of the workforce in Serbia, highlighting that their largest development and research center in Europe is located in Belgrade.
"We are proud that our country is recognized as the largest center for technological development in the region. There is nothing that the Republic of Serbia will not do to attract and retain leading global technology companies," Djuric said on this occasion, as mentioned in the statement.
On the sidelines of the APEC forum meeting, which gathered the world's leaders in San Francisco this week, Ambassador Djuric participated in a special event called "Best of California," organized by Congressman Eric Swalwell.
"The upward trend in economic cooperation between our two states continues thanks to the stability of crucial economic indicators in Serbia. This is why our market enjoys the trust of both consumers and investors. Through the responsible policy of President Aleksandar Vucic and the Government of Serbia, our country, especially in the last few challenging global years, has managed to achieve cumulative real GDP growth of around 9.5%, record foreign direct investment inflows, and continued growth in employment and wages in the private sector," Djuric emphasized.
Ambassador Djuric also met with the President of the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Harbir Bhatia, whom he acquainted with the macroeconomic trends in Serbia, particularly pointing out the significant growth in trade between Serbia and the United States, which reached a record amount of $1.2 billion in 2022, according to the statement.
Djuric also met with representatives of the organization "Serbian Entrepreneurs," which has been bringing together the most successful entrepreneurs of Serbian origin in America for seven years, promoting the Serbian economy and industry in the United States.
