Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric spoke today in Nicosia with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, emphasizing that the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo has further deteriorated following the introduction of new bans on the dinar and the importation of Serbian goods by Pristina.

He expressed gratitude for Cyprus's firm stance on not recognizing Kosovo.

"The Serbian Foreign Minister thanked Cyprus for its firm stance on not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo, informing his counterpart about the current situation in the southern Serbian province and the difficult position of Serbs, which has been further aggravated by the introduction of new, tendentious bans on the dinar and the importation of Serbian goods by Pristina," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Additionally, Djuric emphasized Serbia's principled support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cyprus.

"Cyprus has a friend and reliable ally in Serbia in this part of Europe," Djuric stressed.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also discussed economic cooperation with the President of Cyprus, with a particular focus on further developing tourism potentials, which include participation in the Tourism Fair and the upcoming International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027, which will be hosted by Belgrade.

In light of this, during today's meeting in Nicosia, coordination activities between state institutions were agreed upon to mutually promote the tourism potentials of the two countries.

Djuric conveyed greetings from the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, to the President of Cyprus, expressing hope that an official visit at the highest level will occur soon.
