Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated this evening that the negative reactions of Pristina's representatives to the measures announced by Belgrade, aimed at protecting the human rights of Serbs in Kosovo and reaffirming dialogue, are proof that Albin Kurti and his associates do not intend to abandon their policy of unilateral actions and denial of the very essence of normalizing relations.

In a written statement, Djuric called on the highest representatives of Pristina to abandon the policy of violent ethnonationalism and return to the negotiating table, so that the process of normalizing relations can be unblocked where it was stalled – on the issue of forming the Community of Serb Municipalities.

He pointed out that instead of phrases about Europe, international partners, and democracy, Pristina needs to immediately stop the violence against Serbs and, as he emphasized, the shameless violation of their individual and collective rights.

"That is the most European thing they can do at this moment," Djuric underscored.

He also stated that the international community, if it wants a stable Western Balkans and the restoration of productive dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, should exert pressure and put an end to Kurti's policy of violence, as Kurti himself does not wish to do so voluntarily.

"The defense of the rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and the prevention of their expulsion is also a defense of fundamental European values," Djuric concluded.
