Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, at tonight's press conference regarding the damage to the Ibar-Lepenac canal, once again exhibited a pattern of reckless accusations lacking any substance or evidence, further undermining fragile relations in the region.

Djuric assessed that Kurti, in a desperate and chaotic attempt to politically weaponize the recent unjustifiable attack on the Ibar-Lepenac canal, Mr. Kurti has resorted to pointing fingers at everyone — from the long-defunct so-called "North Brigades" and former Civil Protection units, to Serbia as a whole, and even former Kosovo* President Hashim Thaçi.

"This baseless spectacle not only undermines the credibility of his leadership but also exposes the alarming inconsistency and lack of professionalism in his approach," Djuric wrote on the social network "X."

He emphasized that no evidence has been presented to support Kurti's claims.

"The speed and certainty with which Mr. Kurti placed blame on Serbia — within hours of the incident, before any investigation could possibly be conducted — reveal a premeditated attempt to manipulate the narrative. His strategy is transparent: to deflect attention from his own failures and escalate tensions in an already fragile environment. What we are witnessing is not just an irresponsible display of leadership but a political fiasco for Mr. Kurti," Djuric added.

He described such behavior as a clear embarrassment for any leader claiming to prioritize stability and dialogue.

"Instead of fostering trust, Kurti's actions deepen divisions and further jeopardize the potential for constructive engagement," Djuric stated.

He underscored that Belgrade, on the other hand, remains committed to peace, stability, and truth, categorically rejecting these unfounded accusations and once again calling for a thorough, impartial international investigation into the incident.

He reminded everyone that Belgrade is ready to assist in the investigation in cooperation with KFOR and EULEX, stressing that the search for truth should be guided by facts and evidence, not political expediency or theatrical displays of blame.

"We urge Mr. Kurti to abandon his inflammatory rhetoric and focus on genuine dialogue and cooperation. The people of the region deserve leaders who prioritize their well-being over political posturing. Serbia will continue to advocate for peace, stability, and the prosperity of all communities in the region. The time has come for accountability — not just for those responsible for the attack, but also for those who recklessly exploit such events for political gain," Djuric concluded.
