Demolition of “Jezero” motel and beach bar begins; KFOR, EULEX and Kosovo Police members present at the site

The demolition of the “Jezero” motel at Gazivode began at around 10:20 a.m., with members of KFOR, EULEX and the Kosovo Police present at the site. Prior to this, all belongings had been removed from the building.

Workers from the “Ibar Lepenac” company, accompanied by the Kosovo Police, arrived at the motel and beach bar “Jezero” this morning at around 7 a.m.

The property was cordoned off with yellow tape, and workers from the Ibar-Lepenac company were removing items from the building. Heavy machinery also arrived, including a truck and an excavator.

Yesterday, the deadline set by the “Ibar-Lepenac” company for the owners of the “Jezero” motel and beach bar to “vacate the property” expired. The company claims that the property had been unlawfully occupied.

Today’s operation is taking place despite the fact that the case, filed by the owners in court, is still ongoing, with a hearing scheduled for August 12.

The “request for the release of the property” from the “Ibar-Lepenac” company was delivered to the address of the “Jezero” beach bar and motel on July 14.

Meanwhile, the family operating the beach bar on behalf of the owner filed a criminal complaint against the director of the company, Faruk Mujka, and civil proceedings have also been initiated, along with a request for the court to issue an interim measure prohibiting any demolition or changes to the existing state of affairs until the property dispute is resolved.

On the road leading to the “Jezero” motel near the dam, there is one Kosovo Police vehicle, and police officers are carrying out checks. Journalists were asked to show identification and, after verification, were allowed to continue toward the dam, where they were met with another checkpoint, Kosovo Online reporters report.
