At the conclusion of his visit to Washington, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Brendan Hanrahan to discuss the advancement of bilateral cooperation, regional stability, and concrete projects in the energy sector.

Speaking about the position of Serbs in Kosovo, Djuric emphasized that for Serbia, “the protection of Christian heritage in Kosovo and Metohija is a matter of essential importance.”

The minister underscored the significance of continuous and open dialogue with U.S. officials, which builds trust and contributes to a better understanding of shared interests at a time of complex global challenges, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The meeting also addressed specific projects scheduled for implementation this year, including plans for joint activities in the field of cultural cooperation.

The discussion provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional issues and to reaffirm Serbia’s commitment to peace and stability.

Serbia has demonstrated in the recent period that it remains a factor of stability, and Djuric and Hanrahan also discussed concrete proposals for improving connectivity within the Balkan region, as well as the potential role of the United States in that process.
