Djuric meets with Knesset Speaker: Serbs in Kosovo endangered, frequent provocations from Pristina
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met today in Jerusalem with Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, informing him about the situation in Kosovo and warning of the threats faced by the Serbian population, as well as frequent provocations and unilateral actions by Pristina. Djuric also held discussions with Tzachi Hanegbi, National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During the meeting, Djuric conveyed Serbia’s close monitoring of the situation in the Middle East and expressed hope that all those abducted during Hamas’ attack on Israel would be released as soon as possible, according to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Recalling the historical friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the Serbian and Jewish peoples, Djuric expressed confidence that his visit to Israel would contribute to strengthening the ties between the two countries.
The discussions also covered the state of bilateral relations and the dynamics of political dialogue. Minister Djuric reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation with Israel across various fields. He emphasized the important role that parliamentarians from both countries play in strengthening bilateral ties, particularly those involved in parliamentary friendship groups.
He also highlighted Serbia’s interest in continuing economic collaboration, noting the significant growth in recent years, including an increase in Israeli investments.
During his official visit to Israel, Djuric also met with National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi.
Conveying greetings from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Prime Minister Netanyahu, Djuric emphasized that the relationship between the two nations is rooted in centuries-old friendship and strong cooperation in the modern era.
The minister briefed his interlocutor on Serbia’s economic achievements and investment potential, expressing readiness to continue work on a free trade agreement, which would provide additional incentives for business communities and reflect the positive political relations between the two countries.
Both sides expressed interest in strengthening political dialogue and high-level exchanges to further advance overall relations between Serbia and Israel.
Djuric also informed Hanegbi about the difficult situation faced by Serbs in Kosovo, underlining the cultural, historical, and spiritual significance of Kosovo for the Serbian people as a whole.
The meeting also addressed security developments in the Middle East, with Minister Djuric reiterating his appeal for the release of Alon Ohel and all other hostages held by Hamas.
