The Ambassador of Serbia to the United States, Marko Djuric, stated today that Serbia viewed the United States as one of its key strategic partners.

Speaking at the "America Day in Belgrade" conference, Djuric emphasized that Serbia had shown incredible resilience during times of crisis and that despite challenging circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, Serbia had managed to remain among the leaders in attracting foreign investments.

"The United States has become Serbia's number one partner when it comes to services. We want to become even stronger partners in terms of the economy," Djuric noted.

He added that one confirmation of excellent cooperation was the establishment of the Serbian-American Business Council, which brought together some of the most successful companies in the United States. He announced an event in Washington, D.C., during the fall in which representatives of the Serbian Caucus would participate, aiming to acquaint American decision-makers with the significance of the strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States.

Djuric said that the relations between the United States and Serbia had a historical component, highlighting that their history spanned 142 years, with 130 years marked by partnership, friendship, and collaboration.

"For Serbia, the return of good relations with the United States means a return to itself," Djuric stated.

He emphasized that Serbia and the United States had more similarities than differences. He reminded the audience that the United States had begun its revolution in 1776 and that since then, their unique evolution had continued, while Serbia initiated its revolution in 1804, and its evolution was ongoing, growing into a valuable partner for countries in the region, Europe, and the United States.

Djuric also highlighted the successes of Serbian basketball players in the NBA and stated that many Serbian athletes realized their dreams in the United States.
