Djuric: The worst scenario for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija avoided, protection of interests ensured in difficult circumstances
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said that the solution defined in the triangle Brussels–Belgrade–Pristina avoided the worst possible scenario for Serbs and everyone who works and lives in Kosovo, and that the protection of Serbian interests was ensured in very difficult circumstances.
“I welcome this agreement and congratulate the Serbian negotiators on their effort and the result achieved. Caring for people remains the main priority of the policy of the president and the Government of Serbia. I welcome the engagement of representatives of the European Union, the United States, and the wider international community in resolving the problems caused by the unilateral and uncoordinated actions of Albin Kurti’s government,” Djuric stated.
According to him, the implementation of other agreements from the dialogue, especially the implementation of the signed and ratified agreement on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, is not only the right of the Serbian people but also a necessary step to ensure that in the future, as he stressed, interethnic and institutional relations in Kosovo are better and less dependent on anyone’s arbitrariness.
“I also condemn the opportunistic criticism of the achieved solutions coming from certain political circles in Serbia. I am surprised that they still have not learned that Kosmet is not and should not be a topic for gaining political points, but for national unity. I equally express disagreement with certain foreign politicians and bureaucrats who lobby for Kurti’s government to be rewarded in any way for resolving problems it created itself and has been persistently creating for four years,” Djuric concluded, according to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
