Milovan Drecun, the President of the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija in the Serbian Parliament, stated for RTS, in relation to the swearing-in of the Mayor of North Mitrovica, that the security situation in Kosovo had reached its maximum limit, beyond which conflicts occur.

He also notes that Pristina is undermining the dialogue with the support of the Quint countries, while Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is simultaneously attempting to establish full and absolute control over northern Kosovo.

According to Drecun, there is an ongoing process of undermining the dialogue by Pristina with the support of the Quint countries, the complete rejection of the draft Statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities prepared by the Management Team, and the introduction of Kurti's "self-governance for Serbs," whose essence is actually "the recognition of the false state of Kosovo by Belgrade."

Simultaneously, he adds, Kurti is trying to establish full and absolute control over northern Kosovo in two directions – one is administrative, by occupying four municipalities in the north after what he called farcical "so-called elections."

He warns that it is dangerous that Pristina is hinting at completing the procedure for opening the Ibar Bridge and that they are starting to remove license plates from cars that have not been re-registered and imposing fines.

"What is particularly dangerous is that they are preparing the second part of the implementation of their plan, with the support of the Quint, which is the direct police and military takeover of northern Kosovo. They have already stationed members of special paramilitary units in northern Kosovo; they have issued a regulation by the so-called government regarding the expropriation of Serbian land in municipalities where they intend to establish new bases," Drecun points out.

Drecun assesses that the security situation has reached its maximum limit, beyond which conflicts arise.

"The Serbian people must react to the endangerment of basic human rights as well as the survival in northern Kosovo and Metohija," Drecun concluded.
