EC: After lifting measures, Kosovo is expected to implement reforms and fulfill dialogue obligations
The European Commission announced today that, following the completion of procedures related to lifting measures on Kosovo, the disbursement of the remaining €205 million in financial assistance will continue. As stated in the announcement, Kosovo is now expected to intensify the implementation of necessary EU-related reforms and make progress in fulfilling obligations undertaken in the dialogue.
“In December 2025, President Ursula von der Leyen announced the intention to lift all remaining measures. Following the completion of internal procedures, we confirm that the Commission can now proceed with the payment of the remaining €205 million in financial assistance. The next, final tranche of funds will include: €74 million for projects under the IPA 2021 and 2022 annual programs, as well as €131 million for projects under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF),” a Commission spokesperson told Klan Kosova.
As he added, the European External Action Service will also step up its engagement with the authorities in Kosovo.
“The European Commission and the European External Action Service will intensify their engagement with the Kosovo authorities. Kosovo is now expected to step up the implementation of necessary EU-related reforms and advance in fulfilling obligations undertaken in the EU-facilitated dialogue. The European Union will continue to closely monitor and assess the situation,” the spokesperson added.
