The Embassy of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina has responded to today’s meeting between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, stating that steps implying the development of relations with institutions in Pristina may be interpreted as a deviation from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s official policy and a potential threat to regional stability.

"The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses deep concern over the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konakovic, and representatives of the provisional self-government institutions in Pristina, held on June 2, 2025. We recall that Bosnia and Herzegovina does not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo (UDI), and any steps implying the development of relations with the provisional self-government institutions in Pristina can be interpreted as a departure from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s official policy, a potential threat to regional stability, and unilateral moves that undermine trust and cooperation in the region," the embassy stated in a post on the social network “X.”

The statement further emphasizes that Serbia insists on strict adherence to international law.

"The Republic of Serbia consistently advocates dialogue as the only path to resolving outstanding issues, but insists on the consistent respect for international law and norms, according to which—just as under the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia—Kosovo and Metohija are an integral part of the Republic of Serbia, which also represents the official position of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the embassy added.

They also expressed hope that the Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities would reaffirm their commitment to peace and stability in the region.

"We express hope that the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina will clarify the circumstances of this visit, which was carried out in contradiction to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s official position on the UDI, and reaffirm their commitment to shared principles that contribute to peace and stability in the region," the statement concluded.
