Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, whose country was among the first to recognize Kosovo’s independence, published a new tweet correcting an earlier post and shared a map of Europe where Kosovo is now shown as a territory outside of Serbia.

Yesterday, on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of Estonia’s membership in the European Union, Michal shared a map of Europe in which Kosovo was depicted as part of Serbia. Kosovo Online was among the first to share Michal’s post, and the correction followed just 30 minutes later.

In the updated version of the map, Kosovo is this time shown as a separate entity.

Estonia recognized Kosovo in 2008, just a few days after it declared independence.

Last year, Estonia took on a significant role within the EU after the country’s former Prime Minister Kaja Kallas was appointed the new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Additionally, Estonian diplomat Aivo Orav assumed the post of EU Ambassador to Kosovo.
