French MEP Jean-Lin Lacapelle points out that the situation in Kosovo is extremely unacceptable, stressing that he will always be on the side of the Serbs, RT Balkan reports.

"I will always be on the side of the Serbs, I have never forgotten that you are the basis of Christian civilization in Europe, our friends, and allies," French MEP Jean-Lin Lacapelle said, member of the National Gathering party and member of the "Identity and Democracy" parliamentary group.

Lacapelle says in an interview for "Novosti" that Serbia deserves friendship and support, more than others.

It was he who drew attention in the European Parliament to the difficult situation of the Serbs in Kosovo, as well as to the great pressure that Serbia is under due to the non-introduction of sanctions against Russia.

"The EU behaves differently towards the candidates in its demands - it is very lenient towards Kosovo, which is not a state, but it is extremely strict towards Serbia. This can be seen in the submitted reports. It is felt that there is a two-speed policy. The reason for this is that in Brussels, they want to put everything in the same basket. And Serbia doesn't want that. Neither do Poland and Hungary. That's why there is greater strictness towards them," Lacapelle points out.

He adds that in Brussels they do not understand history, roots, culture, and geopolitics.

"I will impose my vision on Kosovo, which I always point out and repeat as the cradle of Serbian history. I do not understand this pressure from the EU. The Serbs in Kosovo are under attack, they are in danger," the MEP noted.

Lacapelle says that elections with less than three percent of participants are not representative and notes that although five EU countries do not recognize Kosovo's independence, Brussels continues with the same policy.

As he says, the situation in Kosovo today is extremely unacceptable.

"I share sympathies with the Serbs. We will defend their rights," he said.

When asked if there was a chance that the situation would change, he replied that it seemed that the international community was now slowly beginning to realize that the authorities in Pristina were responsible.

"It is good if they are starting to wake up, but the problems need to be solved. It is necessary to organize new elections, to stop shifting responsibility to the Serbs, who have been attributed bad roles in recent decades," Lacapelle stressed.

He points out that as a Frenchman he always repeats that the Serbs were always on the right side of history.

He says that Brussels interferes in sovereignty, and criticizes others when they do so.

"It also interferes with the internal affairs of its members. Recently, a decision was voted on the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine of 500 million euros," Lacapelle emphasized.

He points out that the EU wants to take over the entire policy of defense and foreign affairs, which is the basis of countries' sovereignty.

"It wants to stifle state apparatuses; it wants to rule instead of them. It's dangerous and it's time for people to wake up," he emphasizes.

Speaking about the request sent to Serbia to comply with the sanctions against Russia, Lacapelle says that we are all in favor of respecting the territorial sovereignty of countries.

"Serbia was very clear in this regard. Why is it necessary to put pressure on countries to cut commercial ties with Russia? We do not have the same history or the same dependence on energy products. Russia in the UN Security Council, together with China, defends the integrity of Serbia when it comes to Kosovo. How can the EU ask to give up its allies and friends?" he asked.

"It turns out that today we do not have the right to maintain geopolitical relations according to our history.

No, we need to agree on what the EU says is good and what is not. This is a big problem," he emphasizes.

When asked if he emphasized the ineffectiveness of the sanctions, he reminded that they had been imposed on Serbia for a whole decade and that they served absolutely nothing.

"Only the people suffer from them. Serbia has managed to recover and now it is being asked to do the same to others," Lacapelle emphasizes.
