Gajic on the detention of Uljarevic: The Pristina authorities are crossing the line of reason

Serbian Sports Minister Zoran Gajic said, on the occasion of the arrest of the president of the Football Association of Kosovo and Metohija, Igor Uljarevic, that the Pristina authorities crossed the line of reasonable behavior and that their goal is to instill fear in Serbs.

Uljarevic was detained yesterday in Brnjak because he was carrying jerseys with the inscriptions "Football Association of Kosovo and Metohija" and "No Surrender" in his trunk.

"Sports is one of the first spheres to suffer due to the experience of the Pristina authorities. With this behavior, the authorities in Pristina demotivate children to play sports, which is the first prerequisite for creating a healthy society. The goal of the Pristina authorities, led by Aljbin Kurti, is clear here to force fear in the bones of Serbs, and to transfer politics where it does not belong - to the sports field. Detaining someone just because they have jerseys in their trunk, no matter how much their appearance bothers them, crosses the line of reason," stated Gajic, according to the statement.

Uljarevic was detained for the alleged crime of "causing discord and intolerance", and an investigation was launched against him, which Minister Gajic considered a shameful act.

"The action of the Pristina Prosecutor's Office is a shameful act, because neither Uljarević nor any of the football players wore jerseys in public. And even if they were, Kosovo is and will always be a part of Serbia, so I don't see a problem with the mentioned inscriptions," concluded Gajic.
