Gudzic: PDK proposal to withdraw appeals filed with Constitutional Court is a form of political bargaining

Historian and analyst Aleksandar Gudzic believes that the Democratic Party of Kosovo's proposal to withdraw the appeals filed with the Constitutional Court concerning the constitution of the Assembly and the formation of the Kosovo government in exchange for votes from the Self-Determination Movement on amendments concerning the Specialist Chambers is a classic form of political bargaining.

Gudzic told Kosovo Online that in recent years, political parties in Kosovo have shown that institutions have been rendered obsolete and that they can function without them.

“This is a classic form of political bargaining. Kosovo has been in a kind of political and institutional crisis for years. Over the past few years, it has become clear that institutions are not important to anyone, that they are irrelevant and obsolete, and that political parties can operate outside institutions. This is a continuation of that institutional crisis and a kind of classic political bargaining,” Gudzic said.

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Vlora Citaku said that her party would withdraw the cases it submitted to the Constitutional Court concerning the constitution of the Assembly and the vote on the government, provided that the Self-Determination Movement publicly commits to voting in favor of amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers.
