Historian Aleksandar Gudzic assessed for Kosovo Online, after the return of the memorial plaque to Serbian soldiers, that diplomats from Western countries in Kosovo reacted solely to media pressure and did not deal with facts and historical science.

According to Gudzic, the return of the memorial plaque to Serbian soldiers who died in the wars from 1912 to 1918 occurred after the pressure from Serbian media.

"Certainly, the Embassies of France and Germany reacted to the pressure from Serbian media. The question arises: what are these ambassadors doing? It was really funny and comical, the explanation given by the French Ambassador for why they removed the plaque with the inscription in Cyrillic for the first time. He stated that this was done under the pressure of the media. It seems that diplomats from Western countries in Kosovo react solely to media pressure, do not deal with facts, and do not engage in historical science", Gudzic said.

He emphasizes that the return of the memorial plaque is, in a way, an acknowledgment of the mistake made.

"It's been a farce from the very beginning, a frivolous situation. Removing the plaque of Serbian soldiers who died in World War I in Pristina and the extremely funny explanation due to public pressure. You know, the Serbs in World War I proportionally suffered the greatest losses, more than 50 percent of the male population perished, one million two hundred thousand Serbs died in World War I, and Serbia has never recovered proportionally from these losses", Gudzic concluded.
