Justice Minister Albulena Haxhiu said that the decision to release Dejan Pantic under house arrest was "the most difficult act" that could be done to Kosovo by institutions that, according to her, should be an example of protecting citizens.

Haxhiu stated on Facebook that such a decision was unacceptable.

"I cannot understand how it is possible for someone accused of terrorism to go to house arrest, where according to the law and the severity of the crime, such a light sentence is not possible. It's not that we dreamed that the justice system would be freed without judicial reform, but what happened today is unacceptable and something that will be remembered in the modern history of Kosovo," Haxhiu said.

She added that judicial institutions should protect the constitutional order.

"Instead of judicial institutions protecting the constitutional order and citizens, as the police are physically engaged in the north, they make such harmful decisions from their offices, which, among other things, are encouragement for criminal and terrorist gangs in the north," Haxhiu concluded.
