Haxhiu signs decrees dismissing seven prosecutors from the Serbian community who resigned in 2022

Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu announced today that she has signed decrees dismissing seven prosecutors from the Serbian community who submitted their resignations in 2022.

“Following the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council to dismiss seven prosecutors from the Serbian community who resigned in 2022, I have signed the decrees formalizing their dismissal. This act concludes a process that has been pending for years and implements the decision of the competent institution, in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Kosovo,” Haxhiu wrote on Facebook.

According to her, Kosovo operates on the principles of constitutional order and the rule of law and, as she stressed, no one can hold the functioning of institutions hostage or create legal uncertainty through unresolved procedures.

“The Republic of Kosovo will continue to act decisively, in accordance with the law and in defense of the integrity of its institutions,” Haxhiu stated.

Serbian judges and prosecutors submitted their resignations on 7 November 2022.
