High Representative of the EU Kaja Kallas arrives in Belgrade

The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, arrived in Belgrade this evening, where she was welcomed at Nikola Tesla Airport by Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Djuric.
Also present to welcome her were the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, and the Head of Serbia’s Mission to the EU, Danijel Apostolovic.
Kallas will be visiting Serbia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia until May 23, as part of her second visit to the Western Balkans.
She begins her visit in Serbia, where she will meet with President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Djuro Macut, Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starovic, Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabic, as well as representatives of opposition parliamentary groups, students, and members of civil society organizations.
Ahead of Kallas’ arrival in Belgrade, President Vucic stated that he knows what the main topics of discussion will be—aside from the dialogue with Pristina, which he described as “almost nonexistent.”
“It is nonexistent thanks to Kurti, but Kallas is coming with a slightly different agenda. She was the only one who publicly condemned my visit to Moscow during the meeting in Tirana. I had a conversation with her—I explained Serbia’s position honestly, clearly, and unequivocally. I didn’t hide, nor did I run through the corridors. It was a correct and concrete conversation on that topic, and I am sure she will raise it again and insist on it. I won’t be hiding under the table, to be honest,” Vucic said.
In Pristina, Kallas will meet with representatives of political parties and civil society organizations. She will also visit the EULEX Mission and meet with KFOR Commander Enrico Barduani, the European External Action Service announced.
The High Representative will conclude her regional tour in North Macedonia, where she will meet with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
