KFOR Chief of Staff: We are adjusting our positioning while maintaining readiness to respond

The Chief of Staff of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission, Brigadier General Chad Daniels, visited KFOR personnel operating in Mitrovica, observing firsthand the continued efforts of the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU) and Liaison and Monitoring Teams (LMT) in support of KFOR’s mission in Mitrovica and northern Kosovo.

Daniels noted that MSU personnel contribute to KFOR’s visible and mobile security presence and its readiness to respond, while the Liaison and Monitoring Teams maintain regular engagement with local communities, contributing to KFOR’s situational awareness and understanding of the security environment.

“What I’ve seen from our personnel demonstrates how KFOR is adapting its posture while maintaining the capabilities that matter most: a visible presence, strong situational awareness, engagement with all local communities, and forces that are ready to respond when needed, in accordance with our long-standing UN mandate,” Daniels said, as reported by KFOR.

As KFOR continues to optimize its posture, it is stated, the process remains gradual, conditions-based and informed by continuous assessments of the situation on the ground.

It is recalled that KFOR continues to implement its mandate, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999, in order to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times, impartially and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in their respective roles as security responders.
