Hoti: Kurti and Rama’s relations are not at a desirable level
Professor of International Relations Afrim Hoti told Kosovo Online that he sees no obstacle or problem in the relations between the governments of Kosovo and Albania, but that the relationship between Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama was not at a desirable level even during Rama’s previous term, and that this situation seems to be continuing in his new mandate.
“I think this is a matter of personal relations between Rama and Kurti, because it is a question of leadership. It is a question of who prevails, who becomes first,” Hoti said.
Rama and the ministers in his new government were sworn in on September 19, and on that occasion, no congratulatory message came from Albin Kurti.
Hoti emphasized that relations between Pristina and Tirana have not so far been at the highest level, mainly because of the positions the two prime ministers take against one another.
“My view is that this is just day-to-day politics and that their relations can vary depending on the moment, because when it comes to general issues both governments and both prime ministers do cooperate and coordinate their political activities,” the professor assessed.
