Avdullah Hoti, a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo and former Prime Minister, has assessed that situations are emerging that increase the significance of Resolution 1244 in managing security challenges in Kosovo, which represents a setback for Kosovo.

Hoti posted on his Facebook account, highlighting three reasons for this:

"The first is the lack of state reasoning in managing the state interests of Kosovo. The second is the pursuit of narrow electoral goals in decisions of strategic and national security nature, while the third is the absence of coordination with allies in these decisions," Hoti wrote.

He mentioned that previous governments, due to the inability to formally revoke Resolution 1244 in the United Nations Security Council, worked with allies to greatly diminish its importance.

"This approach also involved the least reporting to the United Nations. I hope that these situations will not be irreversible in the next Kosovo government, which should immediately restore normalcy in the country and establish close and necessary cooperation with allies," Hoti emphasized.
