Democratic League of Kosovo MP Avdullah Hoti emphasized that the Kosovo government was spreading propaganda when it talked about economic development and that the World Bank Report refuted all their statements regarding economic progress.

Hoti shared several points from the report on Facebook to highlight the deceptions of the current Kosovo government.

"The working-age population has decreased due to migration. Further increases in migration will further reduce the labor supply and increase labor costs for businesses. On the other hand, the government claims that more people are returning to Kosovo than leaving," Hoti pointed out.

According to the World Bank Report, he notes, Kosovo's gross domestic product increased by 3.1 percent in 2023 as a result of falling commodity prices on international markets, remittances from the diaspora, and increased bank loans.

"Therefore, the government has no contribution to this increase, which is in any case too small to ensure convergence in development and incomes between Kosovo's average and the EU," the LDK MP points out.

The World Bank assessed that more than half of foreign investments were in construction, and Hoti notes that this does not contribute to the growth of the production base.

He also adds that the increase in official employment statistics is mainly due to a reduction in informality, not the creation of new jobs.

"There are many other issues that I will address in the coming days," Hoti wrote.
