Jevtic: Appointment of interim board of Brezovica Ski Center is a new act of institutional violence against Serbs

Serb List deputy leader Dalibor Jevtic said that Pristina’s appointment of an interim board for the Brezovica Ski Center represents a new act of institutional violence against Serbs in Kosovo.

“In a place like Strpce, where Serbs make up more than 70 percent of the population, Pristina appoints a seven-member interim board with only two Serbs on it! To make matters even more absurd, some of the appointed members from the Albanian community are not even residents of the municipality of Strpce,” Jevtic emphasized in a Facebook post.

In his assessment, this is not a coincidence, but a clear message and a continuation of the policy of denying the Serbian people their democratic and legally guaranteed rights.

“The Constitution of Kosovo is, in this case, merely a dead letter on paper. Although the highest legal act explicitly requires mandatory representation of non-majority communities of at least 10 percent in public institutions and enterprises, the reality on the ground is devastating,” Jevtic pointed out.

According to him, a key step in this process is the consent provided through the Brezovica Board by Nenad Rasic, whose participation in the political selection of members of that board, as well as in institutions more broadly, serves “as a cover for implementing Kurti’s strategy.”

Jevtic states that there are more than 30 central public enterprises in Kosovo, such as KEK, Kosovo Telecom, the Post, Trepca, regional water utilities, etc., which have their own boards of directors.

According to official reports from the civil sector and the Ombudsman institution, more than 80 percent of these boards do not have a single Serb member, he emphasized, adding that where Serbs are represented, they have been reduced to a symbolic number, usually one member without any right to influence, which is far below the constitutional minimum.

“Although provisions of the Constitution, such as Articles 61 and 62, guarantee the right to fair representation at all levels, in ministries and central agencies the percentage of Serbs and other non-majority communities among employees has for years remained between three and five percent overall. In middle and senior management structures within the public administration, the participation of Serbs is almost at the level of a statistical error, less than one percent. From Kurti and his political lackeys such as Rasic, we expect nothing other than the continuation of a policy aimed at expelling Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija,” Jevtic said.

He asked the international community how long it would continue to turn a blind eye to what he described as perfidious ethnic engineering and the trampling of the rights of Serbs to remain and live with dignity.

In his assessment, Albin Kurti’s policy has long been laid bare, and the latest moves only confirm what lies behind his regime: the complete marginalization of the Serbian people and the erasure of their rights.

The Kosovo Privatization Agency announced that its Board of Directors, at a meeting on August 27, adopted a number of important decisions. Among them was the appointment of seven members of the interim Board of Directors of DP “Inex Shar Planina” - Brezovica.
