Kamberi: The ball is in the prosecution's court; Kurti is trying to politicize the story

Belgzim Kamberi from the "Musine Kokalari" Institute told Kosovo Online that Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, is trying to politicize the entire situation by not appearing before the Special Prosecutor's Office and that it is now up to the prosecution to decide how to enforce the law.

"The tendency is to politicize this matter as much as possible. Mr. Kurti wants to create the perception that the prosecution is against the Government, that it is more against the Government than it is fighting corruption or crime," Kamberi said.

He emphasizes that the ball is now in the prosecution’s court, which needs to find a solution and enforce the law.

"It remains to be seen how they will act. We are now in a political struggle between Prime Minister Kurti and the prosecution. We are in a situation where, if the prosecution does not act, there will be issues regarding the enforcement of the law in Kosovo. Therefore, the prosecution will have to take action. On the other hand, it appears that Kurti will not go to the prosecutor's office. It seems the only way is for the prosecution to find a way to complete this interview with Kurti, and now we will see what methodology will be used. Will we have a situation where this matter is further politicized by forcing Kurti to appear before the prosecution, or not, that remains to be seen," Kamberi said.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office announced that after Albin Kurti ignored the Basic Court’s order to testify, the Kosovo Prime Minister would be prosecuted according to the applicable law.

Kurti stated from Gnjilane that he would not appear to testify until the prosecution changes its approach or leadership.
