KFOR: Colonel Di Fiore visits personnel in Mitrovica – Mission optimizing its posture, responsibility remains unchanged

Commander of KFOR’s Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU), Colonel Gianfranco Di Fiore, today visited members of the unit operating in Mitrovica to see “first-hand” their professionalism, readiness, and continued contribution to the NATO-led Mission.

According to a statement, the MSU plays an important role in KFOR’s ability to remain present, mobile, and ready to respond to security developments.

Members of the unit contribute to KFOR’s situational awareness and visible presence and stand ready to support the Mission wherever needed.

“As MSU Commander, I am extremely proud of the professionalism, discipline, and dedication I see every day from our personnel. They understand the responsibility entrusted to them, and I am confident in their readiness and ability to support the KFOR Mission,” Di Fiore said.

The statement also noted that as KFOR optimizes its posture, its responsibility remains unchanged.

Colonel Di Fiore also met with soldiers from KFOR’s K2 Liaison and Monitoring Team (LMT), recognizing their commitment to maintaining dialogue with representatives of all communities on the ground.

The statement added that KFOR continued to implement its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people in Kosovo and to freedom of movement, at all times and impartially, in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and EULEX in their respective roles as security actors.
