KFOR on Serb List's request: Law enforcement is not part of our mandate

Responding to the Serb List's request that KFOR and EULEX urgently investigate Nenad Raskovic's allegations that he was beaten and mistreated by the Kosovo Police, the KFOR Mission told Kosovo Online that law enforcement was not part of its mandate.

"Law enforcement is not part of our mandate," KFOR stated in its response, adding that EULEX should be contacted for any comments regarding the specific case.

KFOR stated that it continues to implement its mandate based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, with the aim of maintaining a safe and secure environment for all people in Kosovo.

"KFOR continues to fulfil its mandate, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, contributing to the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially, and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EULEX Mission, within their respective roles as security actors," the response reads.

Nenad Raskovic from the village of Dren was brutally beaten by members of the Kosovo Police last night after they had first searched his home. Due to the severity of his injuries and his serious condition, Raskovic was transferred to Belgrade today for further treatment.

In addition to condemning the incident, the Serb List called on representatives of the international community, KFOR, and EULEX to urgently investigate all allegations concerning the incident and take measures within their respective mandates to establish all the facts and ensure the protection of citizens' rights and security.
